Reducing homelessness and the use of temporary accommodation is a challenge for everyone working in housing. As the economic situation worsens, tens of thousands of people face soaring household bills, plunging incomes and repossession. The Council of Mortgage Lenders predicts that there will be an estimated 45,000 repossessions this year, compared with 8,000 in 2004.
This all places increasing demand on the public sector. The new Comprehensive Area Assessment methods mean that the only performance indicator by which local authorities will be measured is the number of people in temporary accommodation. In response to this, Pinnacle Consulting has developed a specialist advice and assistance package to help authorities reduce the use of temporary accommodation and reach their 2010 target.
Our approach is to use expert practitioners with real-life experience of overcoming these challenges in a local authority context. We have the knowledge to identify innovative solutions to achieve sustainable improvements.
